Damaris Lewis
A three-time Sports Illustrated Swimwear (2009, 2010, 2011) model, TV host, muse to the late Prince, and that’s just the start of it, Damaris Lewis has already squeezed a lot into her 26 years on this little planet.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to West Indian parents, she’s very proud of her heritage and doesn’t miss an opportunity to represent their home country, St. Kitts & Nevis. A dancer and performer from a young age, she was discovered at age 15 when she was performing with her dance troupe at a benefit dinner. In 2012, while hosting a TV special dedicated to musician Prince, he noticed her and (knowing that she danced and modelled) invited her to join him on tour as a feature dancer. They remained close until his death. Her modelling has also seen her grace the pages of the likes of Essence, French Marie Claire, Self, Cosmopolitan, and GQ, to name just a few!
She’s a huge basketball fan, a passion which saw her launch her own blog dedicated to the sport
Heels to Hoops (now dormant), and host NBA Style for TNT and NBA TV, as well as ESPN’s City Slam Dunk Competition.
Volunteering is also very close to her heart, and she regularly takes time out to participate wherever she can. In particular, she often works with Project Sunshine, The Garden of Dreams, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Her Instagram feed is essentially a showcase of all of the above, and we love every post she puts out! Check out some highlights below, and don’t forget to follow her at @damarislewis.
