Carnivals and rollercoasters
Jumping on a rollercoaster is possibly one of the most nerve racking and thrilling experiences you can sign up for on vacation. When the light goes green, you know you will be embarking on a journey that will feature tears of laughter, sweaty palms and piercing screams! Going to an amusement park or carnival is no longer just for children’s enjoyment… so get stuck in and make the most of the occasion.
Here is a guide to get you through this action packed day:
The best thing to do first is research. This may seem like a silly and boring task to do before going to an amusement park, which is supposed to be fun and care-free, however you want to make the most of the time you have there. Have a look at the carnival or amusement park’s official website, map out which rides you want to go on and which ones will have long waiting queues. You really don’t want to spend your day standing behind a sweaty old guy in the scorching heat when you could be sipping on a cold drink and eating candyfloss, catching up with friends between rides.
Once you have made a list of all the most extreme rides, it’s time to get ready for the trip. For us ladies, this is the best part. Wearing a flowing summer dress may seem like a good idea momentarily… however its best to avoid any Marilyn Monroe moments on the rollers coasters. So rather opt for some sneakers instead of your favourite pair of sandals; put on some cute shorts, a long sleeve blouse and smother on the sunscreen so you don’t get burnt. Throw on your favourite summer bikini under your outfit, as you are bound to get wet on at least one of the rides. Pair the entire outfit with a fantastic pair of sunglasses and a sling bag, and finish off the ensemble by sweeping your hair back in a French plait. Now you will not only look the part but you will be ready to take on the riveting day!
We all know the early bird catches the worm, and in this case the rollercoaster. So get there as early as possible before the masses flock to the rides. If you are going with a group of friends or on a date, make sure that whoever is seated next to you is willing to experience a cut off of blood circulation to their arms. So get ready, grip onto your neighbour and enjoy the electrifying joyride. If you are not a roller coaster junkie, rather take some breaks in between rides – go for a walk and get some fresh air or maybe a bite to eat.
When wondering around the venue make sure to keep an eye out for hand-sized salty pretzels and bright pink candyfloss, both tie in with the carnival atmosphere and will end your excursion off on a high note.
