Europe’s Biggest Summer Party
Tomorrowland is arguably one of the most epic electronic music festivals in the world. This non-stop party has people from all over the world traveling to Belgium to take part in the action. More than a quarter million people were in attendance at this summer extravaganza a few weeks ago. The festival line-up was stacked with top-notch DJ’s that kept the party going all weekend long, across the sixteen elaborate stages. Tomorrowland continually sets the standards for EDM music festivals all across the world.
Recently Forbes and Viagogo presented a list of the Top 10 music festivals worldwide, which is determined by the largest demand for admission. Tomorrowland snatched the top spot of the list. This year, the festival sold 360,000 tickets in an hour. While Tomorrowland is relatively new in age, it has quickly grown into one of the biggest musical events in the world. The first year this EDM festival opened its doors in 2005, there were only 9,000 people in attendance. But this year marks the tenth anniversary of Tomorrowland and due to the festival’s popularity they have added an extra weekend. Even with the additional weekend, ticket demand still increased by 317 percent.
The entire weekend was packed with incredible performances from an array of different DJ’s. On day one, Avicii kicked off the start of the weekend with a great performance. The crowd went wild when he broke out “Wake Me Up” and an array of sparklers erupted on main stage. The best performance of Day 2, had to be the duo performance of Tiësto and Hardwell. Day 3 was filled with the beats of Nicky Romero, David Guetta and Steve Aoki.
Knife Party also had a cool interaction with fans as they were at the prime time slot on Tomorrowland’s main stage. The night before their show, they tweeted to their fans that “if anyone has cool music, send to knifeparty@eastormmusic.com.” A flood of good music filled the inbox in just three hours. Knife party was impressed by the overwhelming array of “real gems” they were sent. They then tweeted “Thanks all for sending tunes, we got over 300 tracks, about 20 decent ones. Server was freaking out tho so we’ve removed the email address.” Out of those twenty recognized tracks, at least nine IDs made the cut for their set on the Tomorrowland main stage!
I believe J.M. Barrie, the creator of the magical tale of Peter Pan, description of Never Land also embodies the essence of Tomorrowland; “So come with me, where dreams are born, and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings, forever, in Never Never Land!” This unreal music festival is the ultimate summer party. Next year try to snag a ticket fast, because this festival will be one you won’t want to miss.
