World Swimsuit 2018 is well underway as our team has arrived in Koh Samui and have started work for this year’s issue.

Tamaryn Greene, who was crowned Miss South Africa 2018 is another powerhouse we are working with for the 2018 issue. We sat down for a quick chat with her to find out her expectations work with the World Swimsuit crew:

Congratulations on winning Miss South Africa 2018. How has the journey been so far?

I am loving it! It has been life changing, very exciting and challenging at the same time.

When you were announced the winner, what was happening in your mind? Can you take us through your emotions?

It was a rollercoaster of emotions. Relief, happiness, excitement, overwhelming, all in one. My hard work had paid off and my dream became a reality.

Taking part in Miss SA requires a lot of character as the process of qualification is tedious and involves a number of stages. Did you ever feel like giving up at some point?

Never. I knew that it would get challenging. I prepared myself to push through whatever came my way.

What kept you going?

Constantly reminding myself why I entered the competition, what my goals were. Also confiding in God. I knew he has a plan for me.

We know that clinching the Miss SA title comes with a lot of responsibility. What are some of the burning issues that you aim to address in your country and the world?

1. As a TB survivor, tackling the Tuberculosis epidemic in South Africa and the World. This I will do through my #breakthestigma campaign.

2. Women empowerment and gender inequality

What is a typical day like for Tamaryn?

This depends. Haha, are we referring to previous medical student Tamaryn or now Miss SA Tamaryn? These roles are very different. Currently, every day is different and depends on what events have been booked for the day. There is no routine per say.

What are you looking forward to most in Koh Samui with the World Swimsuit team?

Everything! I’ve never been to Thailand. It’s going to be an amazing adventure from meeting new people, working with the world swimsuit team and enjoying the beautiful sites such as Koh Samui. I’ve heard its breathtaking.

Did you ever take part in any other beauty pageants before Miss SA? Can you list them?

Yes, a few local competitions.

In December 2018 you will be traveling back to Thailand for the crowning of Miss Universe 2018. Are you feeling positive?

I am. Positive and very excited.
