Paradise Found: Three Exotic Islands That You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

Move over Maldives, there are some idyllic island hotspots which are equally as beautiful and don’t come with a hefty price tag. Yet these beautiful places have not quite made it on the big time vacation map. From a tiny island in Indonesia to a tropical Thai paradise, we reveal three small exotic islands that need to be seen to be believed.

Gili Meno

Perfectly positioned is the shimmering warm waters of the Indian Ocean lies a little-known island called Gili Meno. The island is part of a group of three islands which sit just off the north Eastern coast of a large island called Lombok in Indonesia. While Gili Trawangan is known as the party island, and Gili Air is still quite lively, Gili Meno is the smallest of the three islands and offers an incredibly peaceful spot to relax and unwind. There are no cars or motorbikes here, and the only way to get around is by foot or by bicycle. Guests can spend lazy days swimming snorkeling, diving, practicing yoga or simply chilling in a hammock.

Koh Lipe

Thailand is famous for its palm-fringed islands including Koh Phangan and Koh Samui, but head further south and you’ll discover a stunning island called Koh Lipe. Positioned in the Andaman sea, Koh Lipe boasts postcard-perfect scenery including powdered white sands and turquoise waters. Again, no vehicles are allowed here, so the vibe is chilled. The surrounding waters are home to an incredible array of sea life including turtles, dolphins and manta rays. Koh Lipe can be reached by a boat that departs from Phuket in Thailand, or from Langkawi in Malaysia.

Koh Tatong

Cambodia is a country that is possibly most famous for being home to the historical monument, Angkor Wat. But did you know that this country also has some amazing islands and beaches? While Koh Rong is labeled as the party destination, the lesser known Koh Tatong offers an oasis of calm where you can truly indulge in relaxation. There is only one tiny resort here called Nomad’s Land, which packs some seriously cool eco credentials. Much of the resort is powered by solar panels, shower water is collected from the rain plus they try to minimize waste and provide a sustainable holiday experience. Only five bungalows are available here, so make sure that you book in advance to secure yourself a spot.

So there you have it, three beautiful remote islands that will be sure to impress. Why not step away from the crowd and head somewhere new this year? Enjoy.
