WORLD SWIMSUIT BORNEO 2016 DIARY – DAY 16

And so our trip has come to an end, not with a whimper but with a great big bang! But, before that we still had some work left to do.

We started our day with a short boat trip to the now familiar fishing village beach, where we’d be shooting the rest of Genevieve Morton’s shots. The weather, as it had been that last few days, was absolutely perfect and our only concern was avoiding Pacquiao, the resident alpha male dog.

Even though the location isn’t very big, it offers loads of diversity and Jacques found some great props for Gen to work with including a hammock, an old boat on the shore and boats in the water.

As Jacques was finishing up with Gen on the island, Bianca Koyabe arrived to shoot the last of her hero sequence with the video boys.

Gen and Jacques went back to Gaya Island Resort to capture the last of her shots, including a few with some local tribal dancers.

With the end in sight, the video boys turned up the heat and smashed the rest of their content so that everyone could relax and have a proper party at the farewell.

Gaya Island Resort had arranged an excellent outdoor barbeque for us, serving up a variety of seafood, meats, salads, and more. With wine and beer flowing, the crew let down their hair and danced the night away.

From the moment we arrived at Gaya Island Resort, and throughout our stay, it was an incredible experience. The staff were exemplary in every respect, the accommodation superb, the location extraordinary. Although spirits were high at the farewell party, there was a hint of sadness in the air – after 16 days together through all the hard work, long days and late nights, the team had become a family and Gaya Island Resort their home. Goodbyes are never easy, but the memories made and experiences shared help to soften the blow.

Farewell, Gaya Island Resort, Borneo, and World Swimsuit team, until next year.
