World Swimsuit Announces Location for 2016 Swimwear Shoot

17 June 2016, Cape Town: In a few days the World Swimsuit team will depart for the exotic island of Borneo. The annual shoot brings together some of the industry’s most sought-after models, world-class photographers and videographers, and a crew and production team that are on par with Hollywood heavyweights.

This year’s shoot will be based out of the Gaya Island Resort, an exclusive retreat set on an island within the protected Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. The exquisite location provides the perfect backdrop for the three-week shoot which generates content for the annual magazine release and accompanying media, and also offers a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of what goes into an endeavour of this magnitude.

“The natural unspoilt beauty of Borneo will form the perfect backdrop, as a showcase for World Swimsuit 2017 on television, and in its two annual swimsuit issues, published in South Africa and Australia. Famous for its age old rainforest and diverse eco system, few travellers are familiar with the pristine idyllic islands scattered around, and we plan on revealing just that,” says Aletha Carswell, managing director of Netsport Media.

The luxurious Gaya Island Resort will host the crew over a three week period – with 11 top models, and two internationally renowned photographers, joining the team from all over the world. “We are especially excited to announce that Mellisa Odabash (www.obabash.com) model Tana Boshoff was chosen as the World Swimsuit Model Search Winner of 2017 – and we can wait to shoot her, in and around the Resort, and in the exotic surrounding locations, of Borneo,” says Carswell.

Throughout the shoot the World Swimsuit team, sponsored by CellC, will provide regular updates via their social media channels, showcasing the resort, the location, and of course the stunning models. Followers will get a first-hand look at what it takes to be a swimsuit model and also the daily struggles, triumphs, and shenanigans that make it such an incredible experience.
