America’s Next Top Model
This upcoming season of America’s Next Top Model is going to feature a new kind of model. Chantelle Brown-Young is unlike any other model around. The beautiful 20-year-old contestant has a rare skin disorder called vitiligo, a condition that causes lighter patches to form on your skin.
People magazine reported that the model started to spot around the age of four. Growing up with this rare skin condition, Brown-Young was felt like an outcast amongst her peers. She stated, “The bullying started when I went to school. It was tough. I definitely had problems with self-esteem.”
Tyra Banks discovered the model on Instagram. She personally contacted the model about competing on the 21st season of the show. Further in her interview with People magazine, Brown-Young said “I’d only been modeling for maybe a year before she found me, so I was pretty fresh. The fact that she wanted me so badly for her show will stick with me for the rest of my life.”
Well it’s no wonder the Tyra wanted this gorgeous model for America’s Next Top Model so badly. Brown-Young is definitely one of a kind. It’ll be fun to watch her journey throughout the competition. Brown-Young now has the exposure to have a huge impact on people everywhere. She has the opportunity to redefine beauty in the fashion industry, for the better.
