The World Swimsuit team would like to congratulate our 2016 rookie Demi-Nel Peters on being chosen as Miss South Africa 2017! The Miss South Africa competition showcased it’s 59th edition this year which was held in Johannesburg at the Sun City Superbowl and for the first time the winner was chosen by the public. Out of the 900 entries, 26 of which made the semi-finals competed against one another before the 12 finalists were announced. As a result, Demi-Nel has won herself R1 million prize money and will be given the opportunity to represent South Africa at both Miss Universe 2017 and Miss World 2017. Asked what her goals were for her reign she said, “I want to be that relatable Miss South Africa who is authentic and true to herself so that people can see a little bit of themselves in me”. The model continued and said, “As Miss South Africa, you need to remember you are representing a country and different cultures”. Demi-Nel joins a star-studded alumni crew which includes the likes of Jo-Ann Strauss, Cindy Nel and Claudia Henkel who have all gone on to forge successful careers elsewhere.
