We've almost picked the final list of models who will be whisked off to an amazing destination to shoot World Swimsuit 2016! To wet your appetite for things to come, check out this amazing location we've lined up! Not too long from now the World Swimsuit team will be off to Borneo to shoot its latest edition and our first stop is the Gaya Island Resort. Located in between the protected mangroves and the coast of Malohom Bay, the resort is set within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Par. Nature is a big part of the experience as the surrounding rain forests and beaches provide one with some of the most breathtaking backdrops you can find.
While the natural surroundings are breathtaking, the resort itself is something to behold. Featuring a whole host of villas with stunning views, our models will be able to experience snorkelling, sunset cruises and much more. The resort also hosts a conference room, swimming pools, gymnasium and even a library. The villas are best described as "contemporary and elegant, eco-luxury yet respectful of Sabahan elements."
Dining is another unique experience. Guests are not only able to indulge in the best Sabahan cuisine, they can take a quick class by the resort's chef. There is also the Bajau Laut Beach Barbecue. This barbecue draws from Bajau Suluk ethnicity and features land and sea grilled foods prepared over piping hot coals and served with vegetables. We can't wait for those beautiful, sunset barbies!
Since it's located within a marine park, the wildlife remains an integral part of the resort and its aims are to be "committed to ecologically sustainable practices to minimise its carbon footprint within the environment" . The resort even has its unique 7 Wonders of Gaya experience, which includes monkeys, elephant plants and the island's mangroves. We can't wait to share our experiences of this amazing part of the world with you. Watch this space!
