Wednesday brings another dose of weekly model news, where we take a look at what’s happening in the industry. For today’s deep dive we focus on Glamour magazine’s annual “Women of the Year” issue as they hand out awards to the women they feel have been making a difference in many spheres of life.
Awarded the “Supernova” award is model, Gigi Hadid, who for a while has been one of the biggest models out there and was rightly recognised. The magazine chose her as they feel she’s built a core audience in such a fickle industry and time, has continued to advocate against issues such as gun control, human rights and women’s personal safety.
We can only applaud as Gigi continues to stand out from the rest of her colleges. Nicole Kidman who received the magazine’s “The Icon” award and Solange Knowles was the recipient of “The Artist” award were the other magazine cover girls. There were a further 7 awards the magazine handed out to many groups of women who played their role in making change around them possible and for pushing boundaries in society.
